Does your organization need student workers?

Federal Work Study (FWS) is a financial aid program that provides part-time jobs to undergraduate students with financial need, helping them earn money to pay for college expenses. The program is funded by the federal government, and the jobs are typically on or near campus. Federal Community Work Study (FCWS) encourages employment partnerships between Trinity College and local organizations providing community services.

If your organization is interested in our program, please reach out to our office to speak with our federal community work study program coordinator.

More Information

Community work study is a provision of the FWS program designed to offer students the chance to earn money while engaging in community service work. At Trinity College, this program provides students with the opportunity to contribute to the broader college community through service-oriented positions. Federal Community Work-Study (FCWS) positions are designed to give students a chance to gain valuable work experience while benefiting the greater community.

Students who have applied through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may be eligible to work in a variety of positions at local non-profit organizations or in community service roles. Students are paid hourly, and there’s a limit to how many hours a student can work during the academic year, typically based on the work-study award amount. Students must be able to choose shifts that don’t interfere with their classes.

Important Information: Your organization must provide services that are open and accessible to the community.
Wages paid to students are split between Trinity College and the off-campus partner. This allocation is determined annually. For the 2024-25 academic year, the wage split was 65% from Trinity College and 35% from the off-campus employer.
